Solid Waste Reduction

At Swansfield Elementary...
The SES Green Team, the Green Beanz, sponsor the "Be Green; Green Get Green " SES Community Yard Sale. This community yard is for members of  our community to sell their belongings.  These items will be reused by another community member  instead of being thrown away, reducing the amount of solid waste in the landfill.  A donation truck will arrive at then end of the sale so people can donate what they don't sell.

Gina Bonomo, Recycling Coordinator for Howard County Environmental Services, will be at the sale.  She will have recycling information available for Howard County residents.  She will also be making a bowl out of a recycled t-shirt with interested students.

The SES PTA  will be hosting a healthy snack table at the yard sale.

Proceeds from renting parking spaces to yard sale participants will be used to buy recycling bins for the 25% of SES staff who are using cardboard boxes or who do not have bins in their classrooms.
