Let's Celebrate: It's Great to be Green at Swansfield Elementary!

At Swansfield...
•We celebrated our Green School certification in the spring of 2015.  The Green Beanz organized the creation of a Green School Celebration Mural.  Under the direction of SES art teacher, Janice Ford, the Green Beanz researched  mural art, designed, and created our "It's Great to be GREEN at Swansfield Elementary" celebration mural.  Once completed, students in all grades painted their thumbprints on the mural celebrating that all students work to make SES a Green School.  was was held in the cafeteria.  They made a PowerPoint explaining how Swansfield became a Green School and what Swansfield was going to do to stay a Green School

•We announce classes on the morning announcements who have been "Seen being Green" by turning off the lights in their classroom.
•We celebrate International Walk to School Day in October and in April.

•We celebrate "Ride Your Bike to School Day in the spring while the students are participating in the physical education bike unit.
*Our school wide science fairs were all about being green.  Each of the experiments submitted by students in grades k-5 was about a "Green" topic or about "being Green."
